BRANDER recently underwent a datacentre migration where their previous IT Managed Service Provider had migrated their server infrastructure and business-critical applications in to a secure datacentre based locally with in Aberdeen. Post migration, BRANDER encountered performance issues both with network connection latency into the datacentre and performance of business-critical applications hosted within the datacentre. IT Hotdesk consultancy services were engaged initially to understand and investigate the ongoing performance issues being encountered as a priority, this was greatly impacting BRANDER user’s ability to speedily service incoming client requests. BRANDER also engaged IT Hotdesk as their IT Managed Service Provider to reduce ongoing IT expenditure.
IT Hotdesk deployed their Next Generation Firewall into the Aberdeen Office to allow for a secure and resilient site-to-site VPN connection into the datacentre. This increased reliability but also mitigated the issues BRANDER users were encountering with latency and Dial-Up VPN errors. As part of the initial assessment, it was identified that the workstation asset was under preforming and aged. As BRANDER users worked only from their Remote Desktop Infrastructure in the datacentre, IT Hotdesk deployed Thin Clients into the BRANDER office, thus reducing up-front hardware and licensing costs. IT Hotdesk continued to work along side their datacentre provider to ensure the smooth running of the hosted applications. Overtime as the business-critical applications in use grew, IT Hotdesk were able to quickly and efficiently liaise with the datacentre to facilitate upgrades to hardware to ensure continuing performance of the business-critical applications. Overall IT Hotdesk were able to ensure that BRANDER users were no-longer impacted by the constraints of network latency and ageing infrastructure.
